Choosing the Right ESD-Safe Rubber Band

Malaster ESD rubber bands provide reusable, adhesive-free retention for

Pink MC-ASRB and black MC-CRB rubber bands are available in multiple sizes. Both families provide static-dissipative performance, but their construction and controlled surface-resistivity ranges are different. Selection should be based on the device, intended contact, packaging system, grounding conditions, and applicable ESD-control requirements.

Selection note:
Lower electrical resistance does not automatically make one band better for every application. Product selection should consider the complete packaging system and the customer’s ESD-control requirements.
Understanding the MC-CRB Designation

The black MC-CRB family is often searched for and historically described as conductive rubber bands. Malaster retains the MC-CRB identifier for continuity with purchasing records, drawings, approved material lists, and historical specifications. Current controlled product data classifies these bands as static dissipative.

Product Care

Packaging, Storage, and Inspection

Standard Packaging

Bands are packaged by weight in polyethylene bags containing 1 kilogram, approximately 2.2 pounds, of product. Piece counts are approximate and vary by band dimensions and normal manufacturing and weight tolerances.

Storage Guidance

Keep bands in their original packaging until needed and reseal opened packages when practical. Protect them from sunlight, ultraviolet exposure, excessive heat, ozone-producing equipment, oils, solvents, contamination, and prolonged storage under stretch or compression.

Planning Guidance After Opening

Plan to use pink MC-ASRB and black MC-CRB bands within 9 to 12 months after opening. Apply first-in, first-out inventory practices. These intervals are conservative planning guidance, not guaranteed failure dates.

Inspect before use: Replace bands showing cracking, hardening, tackiness, discoloration, surface damage, deformation, or loss of elasticity. For ESD-critical applications, resistance verification should be part of the user’s complete product-qualification and ESD-control process.
