Profile-Specific Tube End Closures

IC Shipping Tube Plugs

Tube plugs close the end of compatible IC shipping profiles. Selection is based on the actual opening geometry and insertion fit, not simply the semiconductor package family carried by the tube.

Selecting an IC Tube Plug

A plug is a profile-specific closure. The most reliable selection method is to start with the Malaster tube part number or compare the tube’s end opening to the plug dimensions and intended insertion geometry.

Opening geometryCheck the tube’s inside opening, wall features and profile shape where the plug engages.
Insertion + retentionThe plug should retain securely without requiring force that damages or permanently distorts the tube.
Void controlA plug closes the end; filler may still be required when the device load does not occupy the usable tube length.

Unknown Tube? Identify the Profile Before the Plug

If the tube part number is not known, provide a drawing, clear end-view photo or measured opening dimensions. That avoids treating visually similar plugs as interchangeable when their fit is different.
