Black ESD-Safe Rubber Band MC-CRB9
The Black ESD-Safe Rubber Band MC-CRB9 is a static-dissipative rubber band measuring 190mm x 3.2mm (approximately 7.48 inches x .125 inch). Its extended loop length and narrow profile provide flexible, reusable retention for longer IC shipping tubes, larger component bundles, protective boxes, and other static-sensitive packaging.
MC-CRB9 bands are manufactured from impregnated natural rubber and have a controlled surface-resistivity range of 1 × 104 to 1 × 106 Ω/square. They are intended for applications where a lower-resistance static-dissipative retention band is specified or preferred as part of the customer’s ESD-control program. The lower resistance range does not automatically make the band appropriate for every application, so selection should consider the complete packaging system and applicable ESD-control requirements.

About the MC-CRB Designation
MC-CRB is retained as a legacy Malaster part-family identifier for continuity with customer purchasing records, approved material lists, drawings, and historical specifications. These products may therefore still be described as conductive rubber bands in older records and common search terminology. Current MC-CRB products are classified as static dissipative, not conductive.
Typical Applications
- Bundling longer IC shipping tubes and component carriers
- Retaining larger groups of tubes or packaging materials
- Holding protective boxes and component kits securely closed
- Organizing work-in-process materials within production areas
- Reusable retention during manufacturing, storage, and shipment
Storage and Inspection Guidance
Store MC-CRB9 bands in their original packaging and reseal opened packages when practical. Protect the bands from direct sunlight, ultraviolet exposure, excessive heat, ozone-producing equipment, oils, solvents, contamination, and prolonged storage under stretch or compression. After opening, plan to use the bands within 9 to 12 months and apply first-in, first-out inventory practices.
Inspect bands before use and replace any showing cracking, hardening, tackiness, discoloration, surface damage, deformation, or loss of elasticity. For ESD-critical applications, resistance should be verified as part of the customer’s qualification and ESD-control process.
Published properties and approximate package quantities support product evaluation but do not replace customer qualification, incoming inspection, lot verification, or an approved drawing when one is required.
