ESD Component Storage and Handling

ESD Protective Boxes

Build the box, cushion and device-retention system together. Usable internal dimensions, closed-box clearance, foam or insert material, and the way the device is supported all affect the final package.

Build the Required Configuration

The box body, cushions and device insert solve different parts of the packaging problem. Select them together so the loaded component is retained without unintended pressure and the closed box has adequate clearance.

Check the Complete Loaded Package

Usable clearanceCatalog outside dimensions do not by themselves establish device clearance. Include cushion thickness, insert height and device thickness.
Material requirementsMechanical retention and electrical material properties are separate requirements. Confirm the exact materials selected for the configuration.
Particle-sensitive applicationsDiscuss material contact, abrasion, cleanliness requirements and alternatives to foam when FOD or particles are a primary concern.
